MuniBilling provides utility billing software and services to municipal utilities, multi-family property managers and private utilities. I joined to lead integrations with third-party systems and have since become one of the architects of the company's next-generation platform.
MultiBilling platform rewrite (December 2025 – Present)
- Co-originated the idea for a ground-up rewrite of MuniBilling's legacy billing platform; credited by the company President as one of its two originators.
- Key architect of the new service-oriented, event-driven platform on Google Cloud: .NET and Go services, PostgreSQL, Pub/Sub messaging and GitOps delivery to GKE.
- Wrote the founding architecture and database schema for the Customer Information System (CIS), the platform's source of truth for residents, properties, units and meters, and am its lead contributor.
- Started and lead development of the Next.js admin dashboard client organizations use to manage their billing.
- Started the payments service (ACH/NACHA and card processing) and wrote its architecture.
- Core contributor to the billing engine and to the shared database design standards every service follows.
- Started the multi-channel notifications service (email, SMS, push and in-app).
OPAL Operational Toolkit (January 2025 – Present)
- Created and led development of OPAL, a Next.js admin console that puts company management, data migration and partner integrations for the legacy platform behind one UI that works across multiple backend APIs.
- Built the company import/export migration wizard and its status tracking.
- Led integrations with property-management systems (Yardi, Rent Manager, Fortress, Propexo) and utility-usage data (Nectar), with on-demand syncs and per-partner logging.
Integrations (November 2023 – Present)
- Direct implementation for the integrations team for third-party software systems and technologies.
- Developed Google Cloud strategies for external payment and integration projects.
- Manage local development environments, including Docker build and unit test strategies.
- Document and diagram architectures on the internal Confluence site.
